There was a discussionn on another board about craft stores in Austin. Here we can make our own list. When I was there last I visited Hobby Lobby and Michaels. I also noticed a Joann's up north.

Re: Austin Art/Craft Resources
Fri, March 5, 2004 - 6:01 AMIf you want local beads, I'd suggest Nomadic Notions - there's one on the drag, and one close to Mopac and W Anderson Lane. However, I tend to use online sources...www.firemountaingems.com is one of my favorites :)
There's also a Hancock Fabrics on 183 and Anderson Mill.
If you're way up north, there's a fabric store in Cedar Park (I haven't been there yet, so I can't vouch for how good/bad they are - but they have funny hours...). It's off of 183 on the right hand side..doh, I can't remember any cross streets.
Can't forget Miller Blueprinting! There's one downtown, and one off of Metric in the north. I had to buy a huge newsprint pad for a drawing class, and they're the only place locally I found it! -

Sat, March 6, 2004 - 5:33 PMIf you're looking for inexpensive stone beads and pearls by the strand, I work for a wholesaler and can get you beads for WAY cheaper than Nomadic or Fire Mountain, just message me and we can meet or if you know anyone else have them get in touch with me!

Re: Austin Art/Craft Resources
Sun, March 7, 2004 - 2:06 PMThere is also Rubber Stamp Kingdom, a small rubber stamp store on Burnet. Apparently right now they are getting rid of all their mounted stamps and selling them at 50 % off. -

Re: Austin Art/Craft Resources
Mon, March 8, 2004 - 4:35 AMI think Rubber Stamp Kingdom closed. They are moving to a web-based store. Poo.
There is Paper Place by Central Market on N. Lamar - good for nice paper and a small selection of stamp supplies. -

Mon, April 12, 2004 - 12:50 AMA1 Paper on Cesar Chavez is cool...they are about a block east of Congress I believe. There used to be a Rubber Stamp business on S. Congress between Ben White & Oltorf...I'm not sure if they are still there. I had a stamp made from my own design and it was cheaper than I expected.
